The Sales Coordinator is responsible for the reactive aspects of the hotel’s direct sales efforts. The Coordinator effectively solicits, qualifies, negotiates and closes sales with all accounts in his/her assigned market segments and/or territory to positively impact hotel revenues and market share goals. The Clarion Hotel & Conference Center and The West Wing hotel is seeking candidates for Hotel Sales/Catering Manager position. The Clarion Hotel & Conference Center is a 255 room exterior corridor hotel with one large heated pool, kids splash pool, conference center and meeting space. The West Wing hotel is an 115 independent hotel that is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2016. This boutique hotel will be upscale with extended-stay amenities.

A Hotel Sales/Catering Manager works as part of the hotels sales and catering staff. The manager’s typical role is to seek and manage accounts/clients through in-person meetings, telemarketing, online advertising and other means. The individual has to report to the Director of Sales as well as coordinate with the other departments as necessary.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (other duties may be assigned):

  • Attend weekly sales/catering meetings as well as other operational meeting set by General Manager or Sales Director
  • Manage and maintain current accounts
  • Build relationship and go off-site to promote/sell the hotel rooms and amenities to clients and at conferences
  • Conduct professional tour of hotel to potential clients to highlight rooms, amenities, banquet space and meeting space.
  • Use hotel sales and reservation systems to monitor and manage businesses, accounts, generate reports, blocking rooms, group bookings, etc.
  • Follow up sales lead
  • Administrative duties; typing, in and outbound telephone calls, written correspondence, inter-departmental communication, correspondence with VIP clients
  • Responsible for supervising and attending to the overall set up and implementation of special events and meetings as assigned
  • Any other duties as assigned by Owners, General Manager or Director of Sales

Guest Services

Supports guest service as the hotel’s driving philosophy. Personally demonstrates a commitment to guest service by responding to guests’ needs.



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

  • 1+ year hotel sales experience, specialize in wedding sale
  • Proficient knowledge on Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications
  • Professional demeanor and appearance as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Able to work Saturdays or evenings


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Ability to write business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Fluent in English language and writing skills


  • Experience in Hotel SalesPro and CateringPro will be an asset
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as; discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Must have the ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers
  • Must have exceptional customer service, communication, and time management skills
